VAMOXI
Etymology
Vamox (singular, Vamoxi (plural)) comes from Vampire Fox, the name they are more commonly known as.
Supspecies
Vamoxi don’t have real subspecies, the closest they come are the tail groups (Two and three tails vs four and five tails)
They are devided in four categories, based on strength.
Regular vamoxi- all normal traits.
Queen vamoxi- the strongest one in an area. They have the ability to change other demons into vampiric ones. They have stronger abilities than regulars.
Fallen vamoxi/Princes- Vampire foxes that have a ton of strength, but are unable to use it due to having most of their demonic energy drained. They also count as vamoxi that have regenerated their entire bodies, further proving their immense strength. They are seen as indirect offspring of the Queen, since they got equal or more power. That’s where they get the name Prince from.
Double soul vamoxi- Another demon that reincarnated into a vamox. They remember their past and are as strong as a regular vamox, but often refuse to attack humans because of their past life.
Evolution
They evolved from possessed foxes who went and chose to drink human blood instead of eat human flesh. They became their own species over the centuries.
Population
Vampire foxes are a relatively common demon species. They are rare if we were to look at just canine demons, though.
Hybridization
Because Vamoxi do not directly breed, hybridization is rare. It is possible for them to crossbreed with Kitsune, however. This results in a Vamoxi with six or more tails (when feeding)
Anatomy and Dimensions
All Vamox have a goat like body, legs, and normal tail. The head is like that of a fox, with big, pointed dhole-like ears. Their hooves are made of the same gemstone as their horns, and said gemstone affects the fur color too. When feeding or showing dominance they show their true tails, which are always plain white. In their feral form, they are about 1 meter at the shoulder, with some smaller individuals being about 70 cm. They weigh about 90 kg. In their bipedal form, they don’t get taller than 180 cm and heavier than 70 kg. VERY rarely the gemstones may spread to other spots, like having them grow on other limbs.
Skull and Dentition
The Vamox has a long slender skull with at least 4 horns made of a single gemstone. They have the dentition of a normal fox, except the upper fangs are elongated and able to suck blood. Babies are born with a second pair of vampire fangs and two pairs of vampire fangs on the lower jaw. Most Vamoxi lose these, but some keep them.
Fur
Vamoxi have long fur on the neck and belly, and often on the socks and cheeks. The rest of the fur is of medium length and very rough. Their fur patterns may mimic the patterns of another creature, plant or object if the Vamox sees this creature at a very young age or after losing a lot of fur in an accident or fight. This is why some Vamoxi have fur colors representing their gemstone (which is a new fur pattern, not their original one) while others have random and often, more natural ones.
Social and Territorial Behavior
Vamoxi are lone creatures that live on their own. Young Vamoxi are left to survive on their own shortly after birth. Vamoxi are extremely territorial, though. They will find their feeding grounds and will protect said grounds as best as they can. They aren’t scared to kill other Vamoxi when those threaten the territory, even potential ‘mates’ or family.
The strongest Vamox in a radius of 100 meter is called the queen. Queen Vamoxi don’t have the ability to reproduce. Instead, their bite can turn every demon into a vampiric one. But it is dangerous to turn to many demons into vampiric ones, since this will drain the energy of the Queen a lot. To much turning can result in the Queen dying as a result. Queens are honored by even humans, especially those in rural areas, as they are way more easily influenced. Some Queens even build giant castles.
Mating Behavior
Vamoxi don’t stay with a mate of the same species. To breed, they suck the blood of another Vamox. Vamoxi do not have genitals or anything like that. All Vamoxi are genderless, they choose how to indentify. Because of this, Vamoxi that are female or male are extremely rare.
Hunting and Feeding Behavior
A Vamox has the ability to change into a bigger, bipedal form, using that they sneak close to humans and drag them away to feed on them. Because they can only use blood to survive, more often than not the Vamox will suck enough blood to kill the human.
Communication
Vamoxi make high pitched screeches to communicate. They can also howl, but just a little bit.
Habitat
Most Vamoxi live around highly populated areas like cities. Because of their ability to shape shift this is their preffered place to stay. Rural towns are often the hunting grounds of a single Vamox, while bigger towns have up to five and cities can have dozens of them.
Diet
As their name suggests, they live of human blood.
Enemies and Competition
Although Vamoxi are quite high up in the food chain, they are extremely competitive because their instincts want to keep big groups of humans to themselves. Other Vamoxi that enter the territory are fought when found. Other vampiric demons are enemies of vamoxi. Creatures like Púca and Dragonics, who can choose too drink blood to survive, instead of feed on human flesh, are bound to fight with Vamoxi because they have the same territorial instincts.
Range and Conservation
Vamoxi are thriving, because they kill a lot of other demons. They are almost everywhere where humans live.
Abilities
Vamoxi are capable of transforming into a few forms for a short amount of time. Common examples are birds, bats, foxes, or cats. Some powerful ones can take human form, which keeps the satyr-like legs, a fluffy tail and horns. Instead of human ears, fluffy goat ears appear. These forms will appear with the fur color of the real form. Transforming takes a lot of energy and willpower. A small thing like being frightened will return the demon back to it’s original form. They also have extreme healing and regenerative powers, things like a cut of leg will grown back- first from the vamox’ gemstone and then those slowly turn into bones, muscles and fur. In very rare cases these gems stay, which causes scars that are filled with gems instead of regular tissue. Furthermore, vamoxi are very agile (especially the smaller ones) and can run at high speeds. One of their most powerful and dangerous powers is gravity manipulation. This enables them to jump very high up, walk on vertical surfaces or even on ceilings. They can only do this to themselves, though. They don’t have reflections.
Diseases and Weaknesses
A vamox can not get human or regular diseases. However, they can get bloodburned, which happened when a vamox drinks blood infused with holy water, or just holy water in general, which hurts the vamoxi so much that they often can’t move. This is a great way for demon hunters to catch them, but bloodburn is very rare, since adult vamoxi are able to smell the contents of the blood. In sunlight, most abilities are disabled, like regeneration, super speed and gravity manipulation. Regeneration will start working as soon as the demon is out of the sun. Other abilities like transformation are harder and take way more energy. They share the same weaknesses with other demons, they have to obey to the following rules.
1. They can not enter sacred or holy territory
2. Holy water will hurt them
3. They cannot cross a salt line
4. They will be paralyzed by the mix of holy water, salt, crystals and holy silver.
The only rule that does not apply to them is ‘they can not pass through entrances protecting by crystals’ since the gemstones on their body block the powers of the crystals out.
Relationship with humans
Vamoxi are hated, and one of the most hunted demon species. Although they have evolved to be immune to most anti-demon poisons and those kinds of items, young ones are still easily captured because they miss the ability to recognize danger. Very rarely, more passive Vamoxi get close to a single human and stay with them, if they are not discovered by humans. Passive Vamoxi also tend to live with other demons, sometimes even engaging a relationship with them.
